Teenage fundraiser Jonjo Heuerman will be decked out in a slick, silk waistcoat for the presentation of his British Empire Medal next week.

The 14-year-old, from Wilmington, was the youngest BEM recipient named in the New Year’s Honours for his efforts in supporting the Bobby Moore Fund and Cancer Research UK. He will receive it at Penshurst Place next Thursday.

Savile Row tailors Kent, Haste & Lachter, who have made clothes for the likes of Frank Sinatra and the Duke of Edinburgh, have crafted a pinstripe, claret-coloured waistcoat.

It will have the names of all the people lost to cancer that Jonjo walks for every year sewn into the stripes.

Jonjo, who recently completed an epic charity cycle ride from Dortmund in Germany to London’s Wembley Stadium, said: “I do not feel nervous, I’m really looking forward to it, especially wearing the waistcoat.”

His whole family will be in attendance to see him receive his medal from the Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Viscount De L’Isle.

Mum Donna said: “Jonjo is pretty laid back about it whereas I am fussing over him looking right and saying the right thing.

“The three lovely gentlemen at Kent, Haste & Lachter saw Jonjo on TV and offered to make him a silk pinstripe waistcoat to go under his morning suit.”

As well as the ceremony at Penshurst Place, Jonjo will also attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace on May 24.

West Ham fan Jonjo has walked and cycled thousands of miles to raise money for the cancer charities, inspired by his football hero Bobby Moore and beloved Nan, who died of bowel cancer in 2009.

Despite all the recognition, and £255,000 raised, Jonjo’s charity work shows no sign of slowing down.

On May 24 there will be a charity dog walk at Weald Country Park in Brentwood, Essex, and next month he is organising a junior World Cup at Wembley’s Power League Soccer Centre, to be contested between 32 teams on June 25 and June 26.

On September 24 he will host a World Cup gala dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, held in the same banqueting room in which England’s 1966 World Cup winners celebrated their triumph.
