A public consultation into plans to raise the cost of the Dartford crossing toll comes to an end today.

The plans would see car drivers paying £2 per journey by November and £2.50 in April next year.

Today is the last day that people can let the Government know what they this of the plans.

The Messenger launched its Fight the Hike campaign, backed by local leaders and politicians, against the planned rises.

More than 2000 people signed our petition which called for the Government to put the brakes on the increases, to extend the local residents' discount scheme to Gravesham and for it to reconsider its conditions for opening up the tolls during "severe congestion."

Its not too late to take part in the consultation.
