One of the proudest dogs you’ve ever seen will take to the stage at The Orchard Theatre in Dartford this weekend.

Little Red won a part in romantic opera La Boheme after award-winning director and producer Ellen Kent put out an appeal, which appeared in the Messenger last month.

Owner Janet James put five-year-old Red forward for a role and is now looking forward to joining her in costume in the production to make sure she performs to her maximum.

Red, who enjoys the company of people and other canines, has participated in competitions, and is not fazed by crowds, noise or lights, making her perfect for an acting gig.

La Boheme is based on Henri Murger’s novel Scenes de la vie de boheme. Set in Paris, it focuses on the love between seamstress Mimi and poet Rodolfo.

It is on at The Orchard at 7.30pm on Sunday.
