At 10.10am, National Highways said a recovery team was at the scene.

All traffic was directed to use the westbore tunnel.

As a result there were two miles of congestion on approach to the crossing on the clockwise M25.

At around 11am, the vehicle was cleared from the carriageway and the tunnel was re-opened.

Motorists experienced a 45-minute delay, with traffic stretching back to J3 of the M25 anti-clockwise.

All congestion in the area has now cleared.
