Long delays at Dartford Crossing after ‘incident’ blocks part of tunnel

Motorists faced delays after police shut part of the Dartford tunnel.

The eastbore tunnel was blocked due to crash between a motorbike and a car.

A spokesman tweeted this morning: “There are currently 45 minute delays.

“Please allow extra time for your journey.”

A police spokesman added: “Kent Police was called at 9.31am to a report of a collision between a motorbike and a car inside the east tunnel on the M25 near the Dartford Crossing.

“Emergency services are in attendance and traffic is heavy in the area due to the ongoing incident.”

At 11.19am, it posted to say the tunnel had reopened but there were delays of up to an hour, with queues stretching back to Junction 4 of the M25.
