A282 shut in both directions between Junction 1A near Dartford Crossing and Junction 2 for Stone due to police incident

A major route near the Dartford Crossing was closed while police responded to concerns for a person’s welfare - the third such incident in two days.

The A282 was shut in both directions this afternoon between Junction 1a for Dartford and Junction 2 for Stone, leading to delays of up to an hour.

Just before 6.30pm traffic was stopped but the route was cleared by 7.10pm.

National Highways staff were at the scene assisting with traffic management.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 5.37pm on Tuesday 13 August 2024 to a report of concern for a person on Princes Road, Dartford.

“Patrols attended and traffic was stopped on the A282 while officers responded to the incident.

“The person was later passed into the care of medical professionals and the road was re-opened at around 7pm.”

It is the third time traffic has been held on the route in just over 24 hours.

At 2.40pm today drivers were held at the same location after reports of concern for a woman’s welfare.

Temporary road closures were enforced and, several hours later, it fully reopened.

The woman was passed into the care of health professionals.

And yesterday, at 4pm, police blocked the road for around an hour due to concerns for a person’s welfare.
