He's adorable, fluffy, and full of love - yet Theo the Alaskan Malamute has been turned down by almost 400 potential owners during his mammoth stay at a Kent rescue centre.
The lonely pooch is howling for a new master after reaching his one year anniversary at Battersea Brands Hatch this week, spending over nine times the average stay of any other dog at the charity.
Three-year-old Theo, who has one electric blue eye and one dazzling brown, came to the centre last year as a stray, but despite dozens of appeals and pleas he has been overlooked.
Thankfully, there is no time limit on how long a dog can be cared for at Battersea, but after such a long wait the charity believes Theo deserves a second chance in a permanent home.
Michelle Bevan, rehoming and welfare manager of Battersea Brands Hatch, said: "We love all 500 of our canine residents who arrive at our centre in Kent every year but Theo really has something special about him, winning over the hearts of so many staff and people who have met him since he arrived with us a whole year ago.
"He is a beautiful boy with lots of love to give.
"Staff at Battersea Brands Hatch have spent lots of time caring for Theo and training him and he is a completely different dog now to when he first arrived as a stray.
"He’s also benefited from spending a period of time in a foster home where he got used to normal everyday noises and enjoyed the company of another dog.
"Our handsome Theo is energetic, mischievous and loves a fuss from the people who he has built a bond with.
"New owners ideally need experience of his Malamute breed and should be willing to put additional time and effort into helping him to be the best dog he can be so he can fulfil his potential to be a wonderful pet."
