A two-year-old boy who was taken to hospital after a car crash which killed his dad has died.

Joshua Hoyle, from Dartford, was critically injured while travelling with his father Andy Hoyle on the A267 at Frant on the approach to Tunbridge Wells.

The toddler was a passenger in a blue Ford Fiesta driven by his dad when it was involved in a four-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 18.

Joshua was taken to a London hospital but he died on Friday last week.

Dad Andy, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

His family paid tribute to him, describing him as "a beloved son, husband, father and brother" who will be deeply missed.

Following the loss of them both, Joshua's mum Trudie said: "Joshua was our loving and energetic boy and the centre of both mine and Andy's world.

"To have lost both of them in this way is absolutely devastating.

"As a family we will never stop loving and missing them, and would ask to be allowed to grieve privately while we come to terms with this tragedy."

A 76-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and for failing to stop after the incident.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police investigating the crash – which occurred shortly after 11am and involved a white Renault Master, a silver Toyota Estima and a silver or grey Honda car – continue to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

They would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have captured any dash cam footage from the area around that time.
