Swanley man made lewd comments to cleaner after changing into his underpants while she was hoovering his home in Lullingstone Avenue

A man made lewd comments to his new cleaner and promised to “give her babies” if she wanted while she hoovered his home.

Christopher George had enlisted his young neighbour to do a little bit of housework for him in exchange for a packet of fags or a little bit of cash.

But after she started cleaning his home in Swanley, he began harassing her, making remarks with sexual connotations and stripped down to his underpants.

The 55-year-old upset her so much, that he was handed back his house keys and she refused to do any more work for him.

Despite this, he continued to try and contact her for a week and even let himself into her home while she was in bed with her partner.

A court heard he harassed the woman between August 7 and August 14 last year and over those seven days there were nine further incidents where he attempted to contact her.

George, of Lullingstone Avenue, Swanley, was later charged with harassment without violence and admitted the offence when he appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on March 28.

Victoria Aked, prosecuting, told Deputy District Judge Julia Moffatt the victim was a neighbour who was in her mid-20s and had some vulnerabilities.

She added: “On August 7, last year he asked her to do some cleaning for a packet of cigarettes, so they entered this relationship and she would clean for money or fags, say for £50 or £20 a time.

“She began that on August 8 and as she was hovering at his home, he asked her if she wanted children.”

When she replied yes the court heard he then made a lewd remark, telling her he could ejaculate in a condom to “give her babies if [she] wanted”.

Judge Moffatt also heard while she had been at his property he had gone to change into a pair of shorts, but when he came back he was in his boxers.

“It was unacceptable and she didn’t like the suggestion of the sexual connotations,” Ms Aked said.

George’s actions were unwanted and over the next few days he tried to contact her through other neighbours and he also approached her again and called her “titch”, which the woman didn’t like and got angry about.

Ms Aked added: “She gave the keys back as she didn’t want much more to do with him.

“Then on Tuesday, August 13, he woke her as he was knocking at the door, but she didn’t answer the door and he was shouting around and then walked into her home via the back door and plugged his charger into an electrical socket while she was in bed with her partner.

“He entered through an unlocked back door she thinks she had not checked it before she got in bed.”

The victim also gave an impact statement which said she was already taking medication for anxiety and depression and said the incidents with George had exasperated her conditions and that she was also anxious about going out of the house in case she saw him and in essence, had become a recluse.

Jon Male, defending, said at the time of the offence his client may have had some mental health issues going on.

He asked for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out on George before he was sentenced so the court see what was behind his behaviour.

Judge Moffatt agreed and granted a six-week adjournment so probation officers could interview George.

He will be sentenced at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on the morning of May 15 and was granted bail until then.
