Police have arrested a suspected thief in connection with attempts to break into parked vehicles.
Officers were called to reports of suspicious activity at a car park in London Road, Swanley, on Monday.
Patrols stopped a van attempting to leave the site, and decided to search the vehicle.
A number of power tools were seized from inside, alongside other suspicious items.
The driver of the van, a 25-year-old man from Clapton, London, was arrested for vehicle interference.
He has now been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Tuesday, May 15.
Kent Police spokesman, Andy Saunders, said: "Kent Police is constantly looking at ways to deter and arrest those who commit vehicle crime but we are also appealing for motorists to help play their part.
"We appreciate it can be time consuming and tiring to empty a vehicle of some items of valuable equipment such as power tools, but this is simply the best way to ensure the safety of your personal property."
Drivers are advised to ensure all doors and windows are locked when leaving vehicles unattended, and conceal valuable items from view.
During the warmer weather, police also suggest taking extra care to safeguard valuables when visiting parks and beauty spots, as thieves may be operating in these areas.
