Police are investigating after a man emptying a safe was attacked on a garage forecourt.
The incident at the Harvest Energy service station in Dartford Road, Farningham, took place at around 4.30 yesterday afternoon.
It is not believed the victim was seriously hurt from the attack.
An employee of the garage, who wished to remain nameless, explained that possibilities of attack are just part of the job.
He said: “That’s the risk you take here really, we’ve always got that risk.”
The worker was not at the garage during the incident, but he spoke to a colleague that was, shortly after.
He said: “I finished my shift so the next guy, took over, he works from 2-9.
“What I heard was, a man came to collect the money from the safe and he got attacked on the forecourt.
“I’m not sure if he was hurt. I know police obviously came. I think what happened was that he was attacked, but it more just a bit of shock.”
The man explained his colleague was shaken up by the attack.
He said:“Obviously me and my mate text and I texted him asking how work was? And he said it had all been closed off.
“I came up to work at 6.30 to stay with him as he just felt a bit edgy. He didn't want to lock the door because it was too early.”
When asked what the protocol was, if someone came in with threatening behaviour, the employee said: “Just agree with them really, anything that will keep them happy.”
A police spokesman said: "It was reported that between 4.30pm and 4.50pm a cash in transit vehicle was robbed and a quantity of money taken.
"Enquiries are on-going to trace a silver Mazda 6 Estate that was in the area at the time."
