Man charged after car ploughs into front of historic Wat Tyler pub in High Street, Dartford

A man has been charged with drink-driving after a car crashed into the front of an historic pub.

Police were called to the Wat Tyler Pub in High Street, Dartford at 2.38am on July 28.

A black Mini Cooper had hit a bay window, smashing the glass panes and leaving brickwork lying on the pavement outside.

The front of the pub has been boarded up and closed since the incident.

Richard Ojo, of Lansdowne Street, Southsea, Hampshire, was taken to hospital for medical attention and later arrested and charged with drink driving.

The 44-year-old was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 19.
