Dartford man charged with murder after woman killed in Peru

A man has been charged with murder following the death of his girlfriend in Peru.

Jorge Garay, 46, of Hythe Street, Dartford, was arrested in London on Saturday with assistance from the Metropolitan Police Service.

He is alleged to have killed 36-year-old Karla Godoy in Lima, Peru, between Wednesday, September 21, and Sunday, October 2.

Ms Godoy's body was found wrapped in blue plastic sheeting and buried in a shallow grave in the South American capital.

The pair are are reported to have lived together in Dartford and worked at Ebbsfleet lorry park.

Mr Garay has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.

Officers are continuing to work closely with the Peruvian authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
