A man has died after falling from the QEII Bridge yesterday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to a riverside field alongside the M25.

The Kent Air Ambulance was also called.

Despite their efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Basildon Hospital.

Essex Police later recovered a car from the inside lane of the Kent-bound carriageway of the M25 motorway.

A spokesman said this morning: "The coroner has been informed. There are no suspicious circumstances."
