Manchester United star David De Gea has donated his match worn gloves and a signed shirt to an aspiring keeper who recently suffered a stroke.

The Spanish shot stopper gave his match worn mitts to Jordan Dawes, from Swanley.

18-year-old Jordan, who plays in goal for Kent Football United, recently suffered a stroke and has been diagnosed with cancer. She is being treated in hospital.

One of her coaches, Crystal Palace midfielder Ciara Watling, uploaded a photo of of Jordan in bed, urging fans to support her.

The message read: "My goalkeeper Jord Dawes from my girls academy is currently in hospital suffering from a terrible stroke at the age of 18.

"Trying to get as many messages to support her as possible. Her favourite player is David De Gea! If anyone can help."

De Gea quickly replied to the message and offered the gloves he wore in his 250th Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

He said: "Hi Ciara, I'd like to send my gloves of the 250 match to Jordan, hopefully she will cheer up a bit."

An over the moon Jordan replied "thank you so much, you’re my literal inspiration".

Manchester United stopper de Gea is not the only celebrity to reach out to Jordan.

Love Island winner Jack Fincham, who also hails from Swanley, took to Twitter to send her a get-well-soon message.

He said: "Hello Jordan it's Jack here, I just wanna send you a little message just to say I hope you make a full recovery.

"I wanna see you back on the pitch. I'm sending you lots of love and I wish you all the best."
