Man taken to hospital after being ‘attacked by man with scissors’ in Priory Shopping Centre, Dartford

A man has been taken to hospital after allegedly being attacked by a man wielding scissors.

Police were called to an alleged assault at the Priory Shopping Centre in Dartford on March 27.

It comes after a video of the incident was shared on social media.

In the short clip two men appear to be grappling with one another in front of shoppers outside Poundland.

A security guard then emerges and appears to apprehend the alleged attacker before being assisted by a colleague.

Police were alerted and confirmed to KentOnline they received a report at around 12.40pm a suspect armed with scissors injured another man.

A spokesman for the force said: “The suspect was restrained by security staff and was arrested by attending police officers shortly after.

“The victim was taken to hospital for wounds to his head and finger.”

Bassan Biro, 24, of Gillingham High Street, was later charged with attempted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, and affray.

The suspect appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 28, and was remanded in custody to Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, April 25.

The Priory Shopping Centre declined to comment.
