Mini-motorbike crash boy critical

A YOUNG boy is in a critical condition in a hospital's specialist burns unit after a mini-motorcycle caught fire following a collision with a car.

Another boy involved in the incident is in a stable condition in the same hospital.

The accident happened in Ladywood Road, Darenth, near Dartford, at around 8.30pm on Saturday.

The boys were taken initially to the Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford, but then transferred to the burns unit in Chelmsford in Essex.

Firefighters from Dartford were called to the scene where the mini motorbike is thought to have collided with a car and fallen into the path of another vehicle.

A spokesman for the fire service said the engine had exploded following the collision. transferred to the hospital in Essex.

He said witnesses had reported hearing the motorbike being ridden up and down the road fro some time before the accident.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident. Anyone who saw anything is asked to call 01622 798538.
