Charlton boss Chris Powell says the Addicks need to get back on the winning trail quickly if they are to mount a League 1 promotion challenge.
Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons was Charlton’s sixth match without a win and saw the Addicks go 10 points below the Dons, who occupy the final play-off place.
Daniel Powell opened the scoring on 55 minutes before Addicks striker Paul Benson received a straight red card for a late lunge on Stephen Gleeson.
The striker - who was also sent off at Colchester on New Year’s Day - will now face a four-match ban, should the Addicks not appeal.
Powell then set-up Sam Baldock to seal the win in stoppage time.
Powell said: "When you lose games, that will see confidence ebb away. We need to get together and I said in the dressing room that we need to get better, we need to improve - if we don’t, our dreams of anything will fade away."
