A bereaved mother taunted by sick trolls on a Facebook page about dead baby jokes has been out collecting signatures in Gravesend town centre today.

Jessamy O’Neill, 22, hopes to collect enough signatures – 100,000 – to ensure that the page, Dead Baby Jokes, is discussed in Parliament.

More than 22,000 people have already signed an online petition set up by Miss O'Neill calling for Facebook to take the page down.

Miss O'Neill of Broomfield Road, Swanscombe, has also set up a Facebook group calling for the page to be closed down.

The Dead Baby Jokes page itself had more than 22,000 likes.

Miss O'Neill will be outside Gravesend library in Windmill Street collecting signatures from 10am tomorrow (Saturday) and will do the same in Dartford next week.

When pregnant Miss O'Neill first saw the page she was incensed and made her feelings known.

She lost her baby Sara to the rare disorder, triploidy, when she was 24 weeks pregnant. It was the anniversary of her due date yesterday (Thursday).

Miss O'Neill was shocked by the vicious and sick response from internet trolls who made jokes about the baby she lost.

Facebook said last week that dead baby jokes groups and pages “in general do not violate our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities”.

Miss O’Neill has been shocked to discover the Ultimate Dead Baby Jokes (Choke) Book for sale on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.

The book has a dead baby on its cover and even contains one chapter called Dead Babies A La Carte.

On Amazon, which is advertising the book for £12.99 in paperback and £1.99 Kindle edition, the product description reads: “Sick, twisted and totally wrong.
“The Ultimate Dead Baby Joke Book is 100% all new jokes for 2011!

“The Ultimate Dead Baby Joke Book has everything and then some.

"Celebrities, Government Officials, Corporations, no one is safe from this outrageous parody of grotesqueness that is strewn thru the pages of this hilarious book.

“It has everything inside you could ever need when dealing with a dead baby.

“It has survival tactics, recipes, sex tips, storing tips, eating tips and last but not least, what to do when the police find you with a dead baby!

“Everything and anything you could possibly think of to do with a dead baby is in the pages of this book.”

It goes on to say that it answers a series of questions about dead babies including: “How many dead babies do you need to throw at a bear to keep it from attacking you?

“What’s the perfect time to serve dead baby to your family? How many dead babies can you give to your lover on Valentines [sic] Day?”

Miss O’Neill has emailed Amazon asking them to stop selling the book but has had no reply.

She said: “It is awful, degrading, and disrespectful.
