A new leadership team has been announced for the Labour party in Dartford.
Following last week’s election which saw the opposition party increase its vote share and its number of councillors to 11 the party has elected its new leader.
Councillor Jonathon Hawkes was elected for the second time, having previously led the Party between 2015 and 2019, whilst councillor Kelly Grehan was elected Deputy Leader.
Councillor Jonathon Hawkes said; “It’s an honour and privilege to be elected by my peers to lead the Labour Group of Councillors in Dartford.
“Labour will be a constructive and robust opposition to the Conservative administration and will hold them to account for the promises they made during the election campaign.
“Labour had a great set of results across Kent on May 4 th, including here in Dartford where we increased our share of the vote and number of Councillors.
“We’ve got a great new team and Labour will be a voice for everyone in our community, playing a full part in ensuring the Council tackles the issues people have told us they want to see action on and providing leadership and fresh thinking as our Borough faces the challenges of the next decade.
Deputy Leader Councillor Kelly Grehan, who has led the party for the past year, said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of Deputy Leader in a new, vibrant, dynamic and diverse group of Labour Councillors in Dartford.
“I am looking forward to working with Jonathon as Leader and the rest of our brilliant team in the years ahead.”
