A new coffee business in Dartford is making customers offers they may find hard to refuse.

If you're on your lunch break and hear the Godfather theme tune fret not for it's more likely to be a barista than a mob boss.

Scott Colmer set up his new Dartford-based Cafe2U franchise delivering coffee and tasty treats and beverages last month.

The business consultant of more than 15 years started the new venture to help businesses and residents to get their caffeine fix in lockdown.

It's hard to miss him as his red van is fitted with airhorns announcing its arrival with the Godfather tune.

"It's a good conversation piece," explains Scott, although he admits not all recognise the tune or appreciate it.

Customers contact him via a mobile app and can place an order to collect while observing social distancing.

He said: “We provide the highest quality espresso coffee, hot chocolate, premium teas and snacks to people in locations where they might not normally be able to get them.

'The pandemic came along and all my clients disappeared...'

"Our customers get to know our routes and when we will be stopping by so they can get at least one great cup of coffee each day.”

The move into the coffee trade marks a career shake-up for Scott whose global consultancy work dried up when the pandemic hit.

"The pandemic came along and all my clients disappeared," he said.

"I spent a few months looking for something... and then I got to the point and did something different."

But Scott adds the seed for change had actually been sown sometime before when he felt motivated to do something to better serve his local community.

He picked the coffee business from a shortlist of five franchises and retrained as a barista to bring him up to speed.

'I have a range of promotions running each month...'

So far he says the business has got a positive reaction and has been steadily building up a customer base with tempting offers.

“Customers can choose from a large range of extra tasty syrup shots for their hot drinks," he said. "I have a range of promotions running each month.”

His latest recommendation is the "ultimate hot chocolate" which includes servings of whipped cream, marshmallows and syrup perfect for the chilly weather outdoors.
