A secondary school has received its first Ofsted report since it opened four years ago.
Stone Lodge School, in Stone Lodge Road, Dartford, has been rated “good” by government inspectors after they visited last month (OCT).
The school, which is run by Endeavour Mat Trust, was marked “outstanding” for leadership and management and praised for “setting firm expectations about how pupils should conduct themselves around the building and in lessons”.
Published last week, the report highlighted it was rare to see poor behaviour and, when it does happen, “the school acts swiftly and staff will support the pupil to make better choices”.
It also praised the school’s “impressive determination to make sure that all pupils, irrespective of background, achieve well and succeed in life”.
It said the school had “prioritised creating a high-quality, ambitious and carefully sequenced curriculum in each subject”.
In the inspection one pupil was quoted as saying: “This school is like coming home.”
A parent said: “Staff have gone above and beyond in supporting my child, I would recommend this school to anyone.”
The only issues the inspection marked as areas to improve were pupils’ retention of key knowledge and a few aspects of the personal development curriculum which were not yet fully embedded “because they have developed gradually as year groups have moved through the school”.
Head teacher Gavin Barnett said: “We are all justifiably proud to share the findings of our first Ofsted report. It highlights outstanding practices across our school with an overall ‘good’ finding which mirrors the incredible feedback we have been receiving from our families since opening in 2019.
“The full report is a testament to the commitment, passion for education and ‘heart’ of every one of our school’s staff and focuses on our ‘outstanding’ leadership and management.
“We are hugely ambitious for every child in our care believing every child deserves a ‘successful life’ and the inspectors clearly saw this in action.
“As we continue to develop we will build on that promise to our families and local community.”
Endeavour MAT chief executive Charlie Guthrie added: “This report is a resounding endorsement of the work taking place at Stone Lodge and reinforces the shared vision we have to support every young person to lead a successful life.
“We are immensely proud of this outcome.”
Dartford North East councillor Kelly Grehan, whose son attends the school, said: “I'm delighted with the report. Stone Lodge is a great school.
“I'm particularly glad the work the school does to equip the children for the future was recognised.'
The school, which opened in 2019 for Year 7 pupils and moved into its new building in 2022, now has 937 pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 with a small number in Year 12 and 13.
