Simon Hesketh came home alone in the Wilmington 10k road-race on Sunday, finishing a minute clear of his nearest rival.

Hesketh (pictured right), representing Larkfield AC, clocked 34min 38sec, with second-placed Nick Leech, of Tunbridge Wells Harriers, following him across the line in 35min 37sec.

The Larkfield runner was the first M40 master and Martyn Rouse (M60, 39.52) of Invicta East Kent, set the fastest time in the higher age group.

Tina Oldershaw (W40, 38.12), of Paddock Wood, continued her fine form to win the women’s race from Nicola Groom (40.16) and Bridget Ostrehan (W35, 42.27).
