Thousands of people completed the country’s biggest obstacle course when it came to Brands Hatch

Thousands of people had a huge amount of fun completing the country’s biggest obstacle course when it came to Brands Hatch at the weekend.

Those who took part in Gung-Ho! at the circuit on Saturday did whatever they could to get over the many giant inflatable hurdles.

Organisers said a staggering 5,000 people turned up for the fun-filled 5km fun run which was the brainchild of CBeebies presenter Alex Winters and featured a giant ball pit, a melon wall, a maze of foam and a rollercoaster-sized slide dubbed Thriller.

Competitors conquered the world’s largest inflatable and Europe’s tallest blow-up slide, which is higher than three double-decker buses.

Competitors took part in a mass warm-up before plunging into the course. Everyone who finished was covered from head to toe in foam.

Alex said: “I came up with the idea after watching Ninja Warrior with my kids. They were saying how great it would be to do something like that.”

“I thought of It’s A Knockout, Takeshi’s Castle, Total Wipeout – TV shows that people love but are never going to be able to take part in.

“The venue was perfect for us and the people of Kent were a great bunch and gave us some of the best feedback we have had for our events.

“Social media went bonkers afterwards which was great to see, and after such a response we definitely want to come back. If they will have us, we will definitely return to Brands Hatch.

“We had people of all ages and abilities. One person got round the entire course in a wheelchair, even managing to pull themselves over The Wall without any help. It was absolutely inspiring.

“We had four generations of one family running together in one wave. There were plenty of bonkers costumes, which I love to see, and so many people running for different charities.
