The Olympic Flame will burn at Brands Hatch as part of a visit across north Kent, it was announced today.

The London 2012 torch will pass through the West Kingsdown racing circuit on Friday, July 20 - eight days before the Games get under way.

The circuit was selected by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to host some of the Paralympic Road Cycling events in September.

Sebastian Coe, Chair of LOCOG, said: ˜We are thrilled to confirm that Brands Hatch will act as a host location for the Olympic Flame welcoming the Olympic Torch Relay during its journey around the UK.

"This is the UK's moment to shine and I want to encourage people across Kent to start planning how they can be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity and show their support for the inspirational Torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic Flame as we count down to the start of the Olympic Games."

The flame will also stop in Higham and Gravesend on the same day before reaching the Olympic Park.
