A woman has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

The A226 London Road in Stone was shut both ways following the incident shortly before 4pm today.

The incident happened near the junction with Acacia Road - with police and paramedics both at the scene.

A woman was taken to local hospital and another woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing and it is understood the woman's injuries are not life-threatening.

The road was closed while the incident was responded to but has since reopened.
