Only one of the two Dartford tunnels will be in operation tonight.

It is so planned maintenance work can take place, Highways England has said.

The east bore tunnel (on the right hand side) will be shut. This is the higher of the two and means vehicles over 4.8 metres will have to use diversions.

The closure runs from 8.30pm tonight until 5.30am on Monday. Delays could affect the A282 and the M25 nearby.

Earlier today both tunnels had to shut after two cars crashed inside one of the structures. The road re-opened in just under an hour and Highways England said tonight's work is not in relation to this accident.
