A primary school that converted to an academy three years ago has been deemed outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.
In its first inspection under its new guise The Brent Primary School in London Road, Stone, was found to be an inclusive and inspirational place with an imaginative curriculum, where pupils are well looked after and make outstanding progress.
Inspectors praised the way staff worked together as well as the opportunities for additional training when needed, and said they noticed “warm and respectful” relationships between staff and pupils.
They noted pupils “make rapid progress because teachers plan work with an appropriate level of challenge that makes them think” and said bullying at The Brent was rare.
The school was given the top grading for its leadership and management, teaching, personal development, behaviour and welfare, outcomes for pupils and early-years provision.
Pupils’ behaviour was also judged to be outstanding and they were found to be friendly and caring.
Sue Nicholson, head teacher, said: “We are a fantastic community of pupils and adults working tirelessly to ensure all our children have the best possible opportunities. We are very proud of our pupils’ academic and personal achievements.
"The Ofsted report recognising our school as a special community is the icing on the cake.
“The school’s motto of ‘inspiring ambition through learning’ is what drives our staff and pupils.
Everyday I am incredibly proud of the friendly and polite culture we have created and how engaged our children are in their learning. We truly have achieved something incredible.”
Catherine Stafford, chairman of governors, added: “Staff go above and beyond in their roles to ensure the children receive a great start in life.
"The report reflects the commitment and energy our colleagues bring to the school and the way our pupils thrive within a stimulating school environment.”
The school was urged to reduce pupil absence by convincing a few parents that full attendance was vital for their children’s education.
The school converted to academy status in February 2014. The last Ofsted inspection
of the former school said it required improvement.
