Swanley Town Council has partnered with Sunpower Services, based in Strood, which is the only company in the UK which offers free solar panel installation to businesses.

They aim to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs and generate power on-site.

It’s hoped this will lead to significant cost savings by reducing electricity bills and transmission costs.

As part of its ten-year plan, the council says it is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

There are also plans to install additional panels across various council properties.

Ryan Hayman, CEO of town council said: “We are proud to be the first authority in the country to partner with Sunpower Services to install panels at Swanley Park on our soft play centre and café.

“Working with them has been a pleasure, and we look forward to expanding our solar portfolio working alongside them in the future."
