A pensioner has died in a London hospital following a crash on a main road.

Police were called to a crash involving just one car at about 11.30am on the A20 in Gorse Hill, in West Kingsdown.

The driver was airlifted to hospital, where she later died.

The road was closed until 3.30pm while police accident investigators carried out their inquiries and officers said the woman, in her 70s, was from the West Kingsdown area.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have dashcam footage prior to it to call 01622 798538, quoting the reference number DK/SM/113/18.
