Person dies after being hit by train at Swanley station

A person has been killed after they were struck by a train this morning.

Officers were called to Swanley station shortly after 6am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended but sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rail services were suspended between St Mary Cray and Sole Street, near Cobham following the incident.

Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The lines between St Mary Cray and Sole Street/Otford have since reopened but delays are still expected until noon.

Tickets can still be used on London Underground and Thameslink services.
