Plans for a new medical centre and 33 homes to be built next to Greenhithe railway station have been withdrawn.
An application from Green Portal and The Greenhithe Health Centre had been recommended for approval by Dartford council’s planning officers, at a meeting in the Civic Centre.
But the developers withdrew their proposal before any decision was made.
The land off Station Road, Greenhithe, would have had three three-bedroom homes, four two-bedroom homes and 26 one-bedroom apartments as well as a medical centre, complete with a doctor’s surgery and five consulting rooms.
Developers promised 10 of the properties would be set aside for affordable housing.
There would have been 44 parking spaces serving the residential properties and 15 for the medical centre.
Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council said it supported the idea of a health centre for Greenhithe but felt with the housing, it was over-development of the site.
Fifteen residents also wrote to voice their concerns. Issues included the risk of nearby Elmdene surgery, in London Road, closing, traffic congestion, noise and air pollution, and a lack of off-street parking.
Kent County Council’s highways experts predicted there would be a 10% increase in traffic during the morning peak period rush hour and 6% during the evening peak rush hour along Station Road.
