Sevenoaks MP Laura Trott calls for Prime Minister to confirm promise on police after Lullingstone Castle death

A Kent MP has called on the Prime Minister to make sure new police officers are introduced to the county after a man was 'stoned' before dying at a castle last week.

Charles Hilder died at Lullingstone Castle, in Eynsford, near Dartford, last Thursday after an incident where rocks were thrown.

A post mortem revealed the 66-year-old died from a heart attack following the altercation.

Questioning Boris Johnson in Parliament today, Sevenoaks MP Laura Trott said: "The lockdown has seen a rise in antisocial behaviour in my area including at Lullingstone castle where a man sadly died.

"My sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this time. This incident shows the need for more visible police in Sevenoaks.

"Can the Prime Minister confirm that the 147 new police officers promised for Kent will not be delayed and they will be focused on frontline policing to tackle antisocial behaviour?"

The Prime Minister replied: "That's why this government is going to get on with its agenda of uniting and levelling up 20,000 more police officers.

"In fact, we have recruited thousands already and I am pleased to say that the 147 that she identified coming to Kent, I think they've already got that, but if they haven't already got that, they are getting that very shortly."

Police have renewed their appeal for information and footage following the incident, which happened at around 5pm on May 28.
