Police are appealing for witnesses to a road smash in Dartford which injured two young women, one of them seriously.

Both pedestrians were walking in Lowfield Street at the time of the collision, which involved three vehicles.

One of them, a 21-year-old, was rushed to the Royal London Hospital by land ambulance, despite Surrey Air Ambulance having landed at the scene at about 6pm on Wednesday.

She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. Another woman, aged 25, suffered minor injuries.

Officers closed the road until about 9pm while Kent Police’s Serious Collision Unit carried out an investigation.

Police are interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or had their car parked in the area just before 6pm that day.

The three vehicles involved were a blue Ford Mondeo, a blue Jaguar and a grey Mini Cooper.

Earlier in the day, in Shepherd's Lane at about 12.20pm, another 21-year-old pedestrian suffered leg injuries and a cut to her face following a collision with a car.

She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital to be treated.
