Officers from Kent Police's road patrol unit helped bring a driver to a stop after a chase which involved several patrol cars.
Police say they stopped the driver who was apparently suffering from mental health issues after he failed to stop for officers.
The chase ended during the early hours of the morning on the streets of London.
A helicopter from the National Police Air Service was also scrambled to help officers on the ground locate the car at about 3am this morning.
Officers on the ground were also assisted by officers from the Gravesend local district policing team.
Kent Police Dartford tweeted it had been a "prolonged pursuit" brought to an end when the vehicle was "stung".
Kent Police spokesman Jordan Bluer said: "Kent Police responded to reports of a car driving dangerously on the M2 near Junction 3 at around 1am on Friday, December 8.
"The vehicle was followed out of Kent and control of the pursuit was handed over to the Metropolitan Police."
