West Kingsdown: crews called after police patrol discover blaze

A police patrol called fire crews after coming across a fire in a country lane near West Kingsdown this afternoon.

The Sevenoaks police team also posted a picture of the fire on Twitter after coming across the blaze in South Ash Lane, and thanked crews for their rapid response.

Firefighters were called just after 3pm and officers closed the road while the fire was extinguished. The road had re-opened by 4.16pm.

"PC Rach and PC Stu from #Team1 came across a large fire whilst on patrol in the #WestKingsdown area," tweeted the Sevenoaks police team. "Thankfully no one injured. Big thanks to @kentfirerescue for attending and helping so quickly #teamwork #Sevenoaks."

It is not yet known how the fire started.
