The 25 police officers arrested three people including a 28-year-old Gravesend woman, who is due to appear at Dartford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 17 charged with shoplifting.
And another man, 33, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine. CCTV operators had followed the man before officers stopped him and found drugs on him. He was then taken into custody.
Later, a search of his home uncovered cash and drug related materials and he was bailed until October pending further enquiries.
Police stopped and searched seven people who they believed were acting suspiciously or were prolific shoplifters.
One man was served with an order to leave the town.
Officers also issued a warning to one person after discovering cannabis in their possession.
Inspector Trevor Keeble, who heads up the acquisitive crime team at north Kent, said: "The purpose of the day of action was to deter opportunist thieves, robustly deal with anyone caught shoplifting and to offer a high-visibility reassurance to the public and retail businesses in Dartford that we are vigorously tackling theft.
"It was also a chance for officers to chat with shoppers and retailers and offer crime reduction advice that could help people stay safe this summer, and prevent them becoming a victim of theft.
"With no shoplifting incidents reported to police during the day, the operation was a success and more than exceeded our objectives for the day of action. We also received lots of positive feedback from retailers and members of the public, who were pleased to see Kent Police openly targeting shoplifters and thieves, and offering valuable crime reduction advice."
