A new police dog has helped track five suspects and recover six weapons including two machetes after a speeding car was stopped by officers.
Boris joined patrols in Wilmington Place, Dartford, after a car was spottted travelling at a high speed on the A2 near Cobham.
It happened just after 1am on Monday and the vehicle eventually stopped and the men inside reportedly ran off.
With the help of police dog Boris, five men were eventually caught and detained on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
A search led to the recovery of two machetes, two crowbars, a knife and an axe.
Favour Edosomwan, 20, was later charged with possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed weapon, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance.
Edosomwan, of St Patrick’s Gardens, Gravesend, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He has been remanded in custody to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, June 20.
Four other men were bailed pending further investigation.
