An image has been issued of a man police would like to speak to after reports of criminal damage to postboxes.

Officers are trying to track down the person who has been covering post boxes around Dartford in gold paint.

The incidents happened between January 31 and February 5 in the Temple Hill area and surrounding roads, including St Vincent’s Road, Atlee Drive and Lavina Drive.

Postboxes in the town centres, including Lowfield Street and in front of the Ivy Leaf Pub in Darenth Road, have also been targeted.

Inspector Siobhan Rowe, of the Dartford Community Safety Unit, said: “Our officers have been working closely with the Royal Mail after several postboxes were covered in paint. We are now issuing an image of a person who may be able to assist with our inquiries.

“While their face is concealed, they are wearing distinctive clothing and we are hoping somebody recognises them and contacts us.”

A spokesman for Royal Mail told KentOnline: “We are aware of the post boxes and are in the process of having them restored to their original red.”

Drivers with dashcams and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for footage that may assist the investigation.
