Police are still searching for a suspect almost a year after a man was assaulted and threatened with a firearm before his home was subjected to a terrifying gang raid.
Officers from the Met want to speak to Shahidul Islam, 22, over an incident in which a 19-year-old was kidnapped from Tollgate Road in E6, London on March 11 last year,
He was assaulted and threatened near Royal Dock Road, Beckton, at around 6.15pm, and then driven to his home in Dartford, where the gang held his younger brother, stole two vehicles, vehicle log books, and other valuable items.
The victim was then driven all the way back to Beckton and told to transfer £200 into one of the suspect’s bank accounts, plus another £10,000 within a week. Throughout his ordeal he was kicked and punched, sustaining cuts and bruises.
Three men have already been convicted over the incident.
Kousar Ahmed, 23, of Linton Gardens, E6; Riaz Ahmed, 23, of Whitchurch Road, RM3, and a 16-year-old of E6, were found guilty of kidnap, robbery and assault at Wood Green Crown Court in October.
Kousar Ahmed and Riaz Ahmed were sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment, and the 16-year-old was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
Police have re-issued an appeal for the public’s help in locating Islam, but have also warned that he should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should instead call 999 immediately.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact DC Raf Patel at Forest Gate Police Station on 0208 217 5889, call police on 101, or tweet @MetCC.
