Traffic was brought to a halt due to a police incident.

The left tunnel at the Dartford Crossing was temporarily closed on the M25 between Dartford and Lakeside in Essex.

Officers were called at 3.50pm to a report of a person seen walking in the carriageway near the crossing.

They attended along with paramedics and a woman was passed into the care of medical professionals.

All traffic was being diverted through the right tunnel but as of around 4.30pm all lanes have been reopened.

National Highways said traffic was building rapidly and to allow extra time when travelling.

There are currently 30 minute delays to normal journey times.
