Police are investigating an alleged rape in the early hours of this morning.

The reported assault took place in an alleyway near Essex Road in Dartford.

One nearby resident saw "at least five police cars" in the area when he left his home to walk his dog at around 5.20am.

He also saw a woman at the scene with a police coat wrapped round her.

A police spokesman said that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
