A police officer had to go to hospital after allegedly being cut in the face during an attack by a man reportedly under investigation.
The officer pulled over a suspect in Suffolk Road, Dartford when the incident is said to have happened.
John Ellis, who was stopped in connection with an investigation being carried out by another police force, has now been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency service worker and resisting arrest.
The 41-year-old of Princes Road, Dartford, is due to appear in court today after being remanded in custody following the alleged incident at 2.20pm on Tuesday.
The police officer suffered cuts to his face and was treated in hospital. He was accompanied by a special constable, who reported suffering bruising to his neck.
Ellis was due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
A 25-year-old woman from Dartford present during the incident was also arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer, possessing a knife in a public place and possessing cannabis.
She remains under investigation and was released on bail until September 16.
