Police are investigating reports of men attempting to abduct children across north Kent, we can reveal.

A police spokesman confirmed several reports of men approaching children in Dartford and Gravesend were being investigated.

He said that no crimes had been committed but that any approaches are reported to the police.

He said: "Kent Police advises that the public and parents remain vigilant, ensure you know where your children are and that children are well-versed in the potential risks associated with talking to strangers."

The reported incidents date from February 10 to Wednesday.

Schools across both boroughs have sent text messages to parents to alert them to the dangers.

Last month, we reported that eight-year-old Ami-lea Salter was approached by a man yards from her home in Waterdales, Northfleet.

Any incidents can be reported to Kent Police by calling 101 or if an emergency 999.
