A man was arrested after a Porsche collided with a telephone mast last night.

The incident happened at about 11.15pm in Shellbank Lane, Bean.

Ilya Severon, 32, of Cooper Road, Snodland, has since been charged with driving whilst unfit.

The mast was knocked from the ground and electrical cables were left hanging over the road.

Electrical engineers were called to the scene to isolate the power supply.

Firefighters and police closed the road for more than two hours following the incident.

A police spokesman said no other cars were involved in the collision.
