South Darenth Post Office is set to close on November 15, it has been announced.

Sevenoaks MP Michael Fallon has written to the managing director of the Post Office Paula Vennells, to make the feelings of the South Darenth locals known.

Mr Fallon said: "I am extremely concerned to hear that the South Darenth Post Office will close because of a dispute between Hobbs pharmacy and the Post Office.

"The manager of Hobbs, Mr Younis, has contacted me with some very serious concerns about the conduct of the Post Office in dealing with the contract.

"I know the Post Office is a vital lifeline to many in the local area, particularly the elderly, so I have written to the MD and asked her to put some heads together to sort this out.

"From the petition I saw, the problem certainly isn’t lack of demand for service."
