Queues built on the approach to the Dartford Crossing after both tunnels were closed.

Highways England said the tunnels were closed just before 9.30pm due to an incident on the Essex side of the crossing.

It comes after delays were caused when a car caught fire on the Queen Elizabeth 2 bridge earlier today.

The tunnels reopened at 9.50pm but Highways England warned further delays were possible with a stop/start system in operation.
