Traffic queues on the London-bound A2 after car overturns before the Darenth Interchange

Drivers have been stuck in two-mile tailbacks this morning after a car overturned on the A2.

The accident happened on the London-bound carriageway before junction 2 of the M25 at the Darenth Interchange at around 9.30am.

Congestion stretched back almost to the turn-off for Ebbsfleet while recovery work took place.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report that a car had overturned on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near Bean.

"Officers, Highways teams and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and a man was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

"Two lanes were closed while the vehicle was recovered and reopened at around 11am."
