Emergency services were called to a railway line after a man was hit by a train.
The incident took in Peareswood Road, near Erith railway station, between Woolwich Arsenal and Dartford at around 1.15pm today.
Paramedics attended, along with members of its Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Our crews treated a man at the scene, sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
British Transport Police said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Southeastern says power has now been restored to the line and trains are “on the move” following the incident.
Earlier today, trains via Woolwich were diverted via Bexleyheath or Sidcup.
At 5.30pm Southeastern said its services had returned to normal.
In a post on X, Southeastern said: “We’ve sadly been informed that a person has been hit by a train between Woolwich Arsenal and Dartford.”
