A reward is being offered to anyone with information about a pensioner who has been missing for almost seven months.

Brian Smart, who would have celebrated his 86th birthday today, has not been since at his home address in Abbey Wood since around 7.30pm on Tuesday September 22.

Police are now offering a £10,000 reward after numerous appeals from his devastated family proved fruitless.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Balcombe, of Greenwich Missing Persons Unit, said: “Since his disappearance, officers have been working tirelessly to find Brian - this work has involved scouring CCTV and using specialist search teams including dog units and the police helicopter to search areas.

“We have previously released images of a watch, a mobile phone and a jacket similar to those that Brian would have had on him when he was last seen, in the hope that someone may have found them discarded or possibly been offered them for sale.

“Every day that goes by without news of Brian is agony for his family.”

Mr Smart, who is five foot seven inches tall and walks with a stick, regularly visits Bexleyheath, Bostall Woods in Greenwich, Dartford and Bluewater.

CCTV footage of him at the shopping centre the day before he went missing was released by police, but nobody has yet come forward with significant information about his whereabouts.

It is believed he was wearing a beige or cream jacket when he disappeared, but he is not thought to have been carrying any money or an Oyster Card.
